
Revolutionizing Learning: A+ Computer Learning Centre expanded the AI-Powered Indigenous Language Translation initiative in Plateau State.

A Jos based computer and ICT outlet, A+ Computer Learning Centre, has made a remarkable landmark achievement of using Artificial Intelligence, AI to promote and preserve indigenous Languages in Plateau State by translating Biology and other textbooks first into Nigerian major languages and some plateau indigenous languages using the AI chatbot.
Founder of the A+ Computer Training Technology Ltd, Chief Sylvanus Koppe Joseph unveiled the project at a meeting with participants and stakeholders held in Jos.
According to Chief Koppe, the project was launched some months ago aimed to support what he described as “no language left behind” initiative where technology would be leverage through AI-powered multilingual education bots.
He added that the project would promote,project and preserve indigenous Languages in Plateau State.
According to him, the first phase of the project would involve translating an English textbook into Yoruba,Hausa, and Igbo languages using the AI chatbot and the second phase of the project would focus on seven selected indigenous Languages of plateau state which included: Angas, Berom, Mwaghavul, Goemai, Afizere, Tarok and Mhiship respectively.
Chief Koppe further stated that other tribes would be considered in further phases adding that the first indigenous Languages were selected based on population sizes and data availability.
He stated: ” The project aims to improve access to learning in marginalized rural communities and will engage indigenous language custodians or experts for advice and support in translation”.
In a statement made available to Mhiship digital content noted that the launched of the AI initiative had in attendance stakeholders and government Ministries, Departments and Agencies,MDAs like the Plateau State Ministry of Education, Plateau State Ministry of Science and Technology and representatives from the various selected indigenous Languages.
During it’s first meeting with participants and stakeholders to achieve the AI innovation on developing indigenous Language, participants resolved that to achieve the project, each participating ethnic group would have a translator, audio-visual features would be incorporated into the AI chatbot, some selected schools in communities would be used for pilot study and the A+ Computer Learning centre would design the project concept and other terms of reference to guide it’s implementation.
The AI technology of translating English language into Plateau State indigenous Languages to enhance learning and bridge language barrier would be the first of it’s kind in the state.
