By Engr Moses Zungdet
The Mhiship Community Youth Development (MCYD) National body has kick-started a 3-day medical outreach at Cottage Hospital, Dyerok Chip led by its president, Comr. Maxwell Paul Dashe.
This is part of efforts to ensure that the people of the Mhiship Community and beyond benefit from free health services through the provisioning of free consultancy, free drugs distribution, free eye check up and glasses, minor surgeries and more.
The program which kick-started today, 27th December, 2025 is expected to run for three days. The medical team consists of doctors, nurses, lab scientists and other professionals in the field of medicine both from within and outside the Mhiship community, who have given themselves to serve and provide these free medical services to the people of the Mhiship Community.
The paramount ruler of the Mhiship Chiefdom, the Long Mhiship, Nda Sunday Dajep Dasha II, ably represented by the Kawap of Mhiship Chiefdom, Nda Bala Makah, appreciated the efforts of the youth body in spearheading this great initiative aimed at ameliorating the health challenges faced by members of the Mhiship Community who could not afford to pay for basic health services. He also went round the different departments of the hospital facility to encourage all workers that were on ground to offer medical services to the people present.
The leadership of the Mhiship Community and Cultural Development Association (MCCDA) ably represented by its Vice President, Mrs Mildred Mbohok was on ground to monitor the medical outreach. She also appreciated and encouraged the leadership of the Mhiship youth for taking on this initiative and urged them to keep pushing through good initiatives to make the Mhiship community a better place. She also encouraged the beneficiaries of the medical outreach to take their medication strictly according to the prescriptions given.
The President of the Mhiship Community Youth Development (MCYD) in his remark appreciated all the support gotten both from within and outside the Mhiship Community to make the event a success. Despite the economic challenges faced, he said people were generous enough to support this initiative. He appreciated the members of his executive council who have laboured and mobilized hard to ensure the necessary support was sourced for the program.
He also encouraged that even though the turnout was impressive, those who were on ground should reach out to others who may not be aware to take advantage of this gesture within the remaining two days of the program.
