
Plateau State House of Assembly Speaker Appoints Aides: Mhiship Son Makes List.

The newly elected Speaker of the Plateau State House of Assembly, RT. Honourable Naanlong Daniel Gapyil has made his first set of appointment of aides to assist him achieve his goal and mandate as the Speaker of the State House of Assembly.
Notable among the appointees is Mr.Dakop Sohotyep; appointed as Senior Legislative Aid (ii), an eminent Son of Mhiship land who has distinguished himself in business and politics and brings to bear wealth of experience to help the new speaker achieve his legislative functions.
In a statement made available to Mhiship Community Digital Space (mhishipcommunity.org) indicates that the Speaker’s appointees include: Hoonsum Nicholas Kongbaam (Chief of Staff); Leonard Stephen (Personal Assistant); Eplong Philip (Press Secretary).
Other appointees are: Alfred Kungrap (Senior Legislative aide I); Dakop Sohotyep (Senior Legislative Aide II); Yilwop P. Kwoldat (Special Adviser, administration); Aleander K. Yakubu (Special Adviser Political, Central Zone); Hon. Zemnyen John Koppah (Special Adviser Legislation).
The Speaker also announced the appointment of David Nansel Parlong (Senior Special Assistant on Special Duties); Nyam Itse Isha (Senior Special Assistant, Gender Equality-Northern zone); Gideon Wanlek (Constituency Liaison Officer) and Justine Lawrence as Adviser on General Duties.
It would be recalled that Right Hon. Naanlong, a member of the All Progressive Congress (APC), unanimously emerged as the consensus speaker of the Plateau State House of Assembly on the 2nd of July 2025 following the resignation of Hon.Gabriel Dewan who had served in that capacity for about two years.
