By Isaac Adigitsanshinan Dashe

The University of Jos was thrown into mourning following a tragic event that claimed the lives of 8 students along Zaria road stadium axis of Jos,Plateau State.

The accident happened around 2:00 AM when the students were returning from an event they often called ‘Welcome Special’.

Among the victims were the National Association of plateau State students, NAPSS president and also the Social Sciences students Association, SOSSA President.

According to eye witness reports, two buses had been hired to convey the students from where the event was held as one of the buses collided with a moving trailer hence, led to the accident, leaving two survivors with mild injuries.

The two survivors recounted that their bus approached the Zaria road stadium,Jos, when a trailer rammed into one of the buses from behind causing the vehicle to hit a pole.

The impact caused the driver to loose control leading to a road crash that claimed the lives of the students alongside the driver.

The second bus was however, unaffected and safely returned the remaining students.

Meanwhile, relevant agencies have swung into action to investigate the caused of the accident and available report at the point of filing this report showed it would not be unconnected to over speed.
