Pankshin South Stakeholders meet: Charts Way forward for Constituency Unity and Development.

Stakeholders, community Association leaders, traditional rulers and politicians of Pankshin South Constituency extraction all gathered at a town hall in Chip on the 3rd of October, 2025 at the instance of Pankshin South Forum of Presidents of Community Development Association to chart a way forward for the unity and development of its people and communities.

The forum had its theme: ‘The Unity of Pankshin South Constituency: A Catalyst for Development’ with a called on all cultural associations of the constituency to speak as one voice to attract development and bridge the gap of disunity among the constituents.

Guest Speaker at the event, Dr.Makrop Longshak, while speaking on the theme: “Unity: A Catalyst for the Development of Pankshin South Constituency” noted that with unity, there was nothing that would not be achieved by the people.

He expressed happiness with the organizers of the forum especially with the choice of what he described as a timely topic to speak with the stakeholders in the constituency. According to Dr. Makrop: “Our unity to achieve certain goals such as getting placed in strategic positions is paramount. After the achievement of goals then what next? That is where the question of development comes in”.

Earlier in his welcome address, the National President of Mhiship Community and Cultural Development Association, (MCCDA), Ndah. CC Martins Dapel Rtd, stated that the town hall meeting was the first of its kind in the history of Pankshin South Constituency and called on all stakeholders at the meeting to see themselves as a united family with a common destiny bound by love with a desire to see to the development of the constituency. He described the gathering as the beginning of imbibing the culture of openness, accountability and dialogue between the leaders and the led with a called on participants to rise above politics, religion and ethnic differences for the common good of all.

The forum also witness presentations by the various presidents of different community development associations that made up the Pankshin South Constituency identifying areas of synergy, collaboration, networking and solidarity to attract development and unity to the zone.

The meeting also had in attendances, political office holders at both Federal and State government levels, traditional rulers from each of the chiefdoms in the constituency, women and youth leaders. Notable amongst them includes: Mishkom Mupun, Da Yusuf Fwangbring Walle, the Long Mhiship, Ndah Sunday Dajep Dasha ll, the Gwolong Tal, Nanleng Yusuf Gutus and the Gupai of Pai, Uda Gipye Lomgocha D. Tarot.

Also in attendance was the Deputy Chairman of Pankshin Local Government Council, Hon. John Caleb Dasar, representative of the member of the State House of Assembly for Pakshin South Constituency, Hon. Tanat, Commissioner of Finance, Hon. Domgkum Grace Shwarta represented by Hon. Jacob Bitmang.

Goodwill messages came from the Councilors of the ten wards that made up the Pankshin South Constituency and a vote of thanks came from the PIDAN deputy president and PIDAN central zone chairman, Comr. Alpha John Dakwak.

The meeting agreed to issue a communiqué with a clear mandate of measuring the performance of all leaders in the constituency to put leaders on their toes in attracting development to the constituency.
