
Mhiship Community and Cultural Development Association pays courtesy visit to the Director General of PICTDA

The Mhiship Community and Cultural Development Association, led by it’s President Nda CC Martins Ayuba Dapel Rtd, visited the Director General of the Plateau Information and Communication Technology Development Agency (PICTDA), Engr. Dominic Datong.
He was accompanied by Mrs Mildred Mbohok (VP MCCDA), Mrs Agatha Rangdat (Treasurer MCCDA), Comr. Shamdung A. Jepla (Chairman, MCCDA Jos South), Comr. Maxwell Paul Dashe (Mhiship Youth Chairman) and Engr. Moses Zungdet(Former Mhiship Youth Chairman).
The visit was part of efforts to ensure that the Mhiship community benefits from the ICT initiatives of the Plateau State Government.
The President of MCCDA informed the DG of PICTDA of the efforts of the Mhiship Community in building an ICT facility which has powered using a solar system with 7.5 Kwh battery, properly fenced and with CCTV systems installed to ensure security. He asked for collaboration with PICTDA to ensure that the facility is equipped with about 250 computer systems, which is the minimum number required for a CBT center, out of which 41 had already been procured by the Mhiship Community. He also emphasized the need for the actualization of this ICT hub as it will serve the needs of not just the Mhiship Community but also the neighbouring communities domiciled in Pankshin South and beyond.
In his remarks the DG of PICTDA, Engr Dominic Datong expressed his satisfaction with the efforts of the leadership of the Mhiship Community and was surprised that such a facility has been built solely through community efforts. He commended the community leadership for thinking along the lines of developing the ICT potential of not just Mhiship land but in extension Pankshin South. He outlined that the government of Plateau State is already thinking of developing ICT training centers across the state.
The DG of PICTDA promised that he will collaborate with the Mhiship Community to ensure that the Mhiship ICT facility is adequately equipped to provide the requisite training and services to people within the catchment area.
